Twilight Towers: Thunder and Lightning Update 5.0
Greetings, Lightkeepers! Are you ready for another map change? We sure hope your answer is yes because this is what’s coming in this update. This time, the new map is meant to save you some space and make merging and combat easier (we do listen to your suggestions). Not only this, we have some new, shiny features to show who’s the best of the best. Keep reading to find out everything!
One last thing before you dive in. This Update is going to work a little different from our previous releases. As of today, October 2nd, we have released to 50% of our Android users. We are completing this update in a staged release to ensure the best possible outcome for all players. This is due to the 4.0 update locking so many players out, we really don't want a repeat of that! So, the rest of the Android users will receive the update in about 7-10 days, and iOS users will receive the update around the same time! If we reach a point where we are confident in the stability of the update, you might see it sooner!
This extra time is going to help us find bugs that would affect your gameplay, that can only be found when testing at scale. So thank you for your patience with us during this time, we can't wait to get you all into the new and upgraded Fernhollow!
WHAT’S NEW
🗺️ All-New Map
A completely redesigned map brings a fresh experience, more space, and easier merges. Harvesters that only filled your maps, walls that got in your way, and other items that were more nuisance than help are now gone.
- Tower Generators replace Wonders: tap or hold to generate towers and materials. Tower Generators are upgradeable using Lanterns (dropped from Tower Generators too).
- Walls removed: the new map has no wall structures, you can better use your Towers to defend your Castle
- Simplified enemy pathing: enemy routing has been reworked to match the new layout
Note: The Dragon Cages will not be transferred, they’ll be restored to players. Also, Dragon Cage Keys will not be transferred either. Version 5.0.0 removes the ability to acquire new Dragon Cage Keys to avoid the excess of them that blocks your maps. Enough of them will be added to the map to ensure that you will always have access to enough keys to open all Dragon Cages.
To make it up for the trouble of having to re-arrange your map (again), some sweet, sweet compensation is heading your way. Check your in-game mail to see how sorry we are.
🐲 New Dragons
Get ready to welcome not one, not two, but three new Dragons that will absolutely decimate your enemies!
- ⛈️ A conjurer of storms, Capacithor draws the sky's fury down as raging lightning, striking down even the toughest enemies. Best used against bosses and hard to kill enemies.
- ⚡ Silent and coiled, Voltara hums with stored lightning while it waits and every idle moment only makes its next strike deadlier. She’s best used against swarms.
- 🫧 Mischievous and protective, Foamfang treats every battlefield like her own shoreline: hers to keep, and no place for trespassers. Good at stalling waves by sending foes back through your defenses.
✨ New Features
📊 Global Rankings
This new feature is aimed especially at our veteran players.
The new global leaderboards let you see how both players and Guilds rank across Fernhollow, with all-time rankings available directly from the leaderboard icon next to your profile. Hopefully, this will also settle a few ongoing debates about which Guild is actually #1!
This is just the beginning for competitive features in Twilight Towers. We’re continuing to explore new ways for players and Guilds to compete, show off their progress, and prove who truly sits at the top.
💪 Kingdom Power
Kingdom Power is a single score that sums up your Kingdom’s overall strength, combining your towers, dragons, and Castle into one number. It rises as you build, merge, and upgrade, so you can always see how far you've come and how much your next upgrade is worth. It's also what drives the new Leaderboards, so climbing the ranks comes down to growing your Power.
🐉 Dragon Collection
Your dragon collection now rewards you in two separate ways.
First, it multiplies your Kingdom Power. The more dragons you own and the higher you level them, the bigger the multiplier applied to your total Power. A broad, high-level collection can push your Power beyond your towers, dragons, and Castle alone.
Second, growing your Collection unlocks Collection Mastery: a track of permanent, account-wide bonuses that carry into every battle. As you acquire and level more dragons, you'll earn lasting perks like increased tower and dragon damage, faster attack speed, and bonus ability charges.
Between the two, the more you invest in your collection, the stronger every part of your account becomes!
🐷 Piggy Bank
A new Piggy Bank feature lets you accumulate rewards as you play. Fill it up through normal gameplay and crack it open for a satisfying payout!
Quality of Life Changes 🪄
🏗️Tower Auto-layout
- Your board tidies itself up, all your attack towers sit on the map — rather than you manually placing each tower, the system automatically positions them.
📖 Tactical Tutorials
- A new contextual tutorial system teaches game mechanics when they matter. Includes enemy narrative tutorials, grid element info tooltips, and a revamped Piper dialogue system with multiple expression variations. The "strong against" section now has helpful tooltips.
