Twilight Towers Dev Blog: Fernhollow Map changes
Greetings, Lightkeepers!
It’s been a bit since our last dev blog, we know, we know. We also know that you’ve felt somewhat neglected and wondering what we’re actually doing. While from the outside it might look like nothing, let us shed some light on the ongoings from the inside.
The quiet wasn’t idle time, it was focusing on the next big update. AND learning from past mistakes. We know changes are hard and we all hate them, but these changes are here to solve the issues you surfaced (thank you so much for this, btw). The goal was to make the mid- and late-game experience deeper, clearer, and more rewarding.
The first big thing that we need to announce are some changes of the map. We know, you’ll have to rearrange everything. Again. (Sorry about this. Again)
But this time is because we heard your feedback about the harvesters that are just taking up valuable space and all the other things that are in your way. So we’ve converted Wonders into your new Tower Generators. Each Wonder produces a different tower type or resource and works similarly to the old generators: simply tap and hold to generate towers and materials. Easier, right? Right?
Wonders can now be upgraded directly using Lanterns (which they also produce). That means you’ll no longer need to keep multiple copies of the same generator around just to merge them into the next level. The result should be a cleaner base, less clutter, and much less time spent hunting through generators for the one you need. (Yay!)
The next goal of the map changes was a cleaner, more customizable home. Our last major map update was meant to give the map more structure and personality by creating distinct themed areas separated by walls. But in practice, those walls ended up taking up a lot of valuable space without giving you much to interact with. They also made the base feel less like your home, since so much of its layout and appearance was already decided for you.
With this update, we’re opening things back up. The new layout makes better use of the space around your Castle, with a greater share of the map available for placing and organizing your towers. You’ll have more freedom to customize your base and give it some of your own personality.
We’ve simplified enemy pathing as well. You’ll still encounter multiple routes, but they should be much easier to understand and follow than the maze-like paths of the previous map.

We know major map migrations can be a little messy, or perhaps even downright annoying. It’s a bit like being told to move into a new house right after you’ve finally unpacked all the boxes.
That’s why we’ve worked hard to make this migration as painless as possible, and smoother than the last one. We really appreciate your patience, and we hope the improvements make the temporary disruption worth it. And because kind words only go so far, we will be including 500 Gems to ease the pain of having to re-arrange everything. More compensation will be provided based on Castle level, Harvester level, Wonder progression, Seeds, and IAPs.
Important info: The Dragon Cages will not be transferred, they’ll be restored to players. Also, Dragon Cage Keys will not be transferred either. Version 5.0.0 removes the ability to acquire new Dragon Cage Keys to avoid the excess of them that blocks your maps. Enough of them will be added to the map to ensure that you will always have access to enough keys to open all Dragon Cages.
Now let’s go to the shiny, new features! ✨
Global Rankings
This new feature is aimed especially at our veteran players.
The new global leaderboards let you see how both players and Guilds rank across Fernhollow, with all-time rankings available directly from the leaderboard icon next to your profile. Hopefully, this will also settle a few ongoing debates about which Guild is actually #1!
This is just the beginning for competitive features in Twilight Towers. We’re continuing to explore new ways for players and Guilds to compete, show off their progress, and prove who truly sits at the top.
Kingdom Power
Kingdom Power is a single score that sums up your Kingdom’s overall strength, combining your towers, dragons, and Castle into one number. It rises as you build, merge, and upgrade, so you can always see how far you've come and how much your next upgrade is worth. It's also what drives the new Leaderboards, so climbing the ranks comes down to growing your Power.
Collection Mastery / Collection Bonuses
Your dragon collection now rewards you in two separate ways.
First, it multiplies your Kingdom Power. The more dragons you own and the higher you level them, the bigger the multiplier applied to your total Power. A broad, high-level collection can push your Power beyond your towers, dragons, and Castle alone.
Second, growing your Collection unlocks Collection Mastery: a track of permanent, account-wide bonuses that carry into every battle. As you acquire and level more dragons, you'll earn lasting perks like increased tower and dragon damage, faster attack speed, and bonus ability charges.
Between the two, the more you invest in your collection, the stronger every part of your account becomes!
We hope these changes and new features will bring you joy and bragging rights!
Thanks for sticking with us while our Sorcerers fine-tune the magic in Fernhollow and battle the bugs that may arise. There's still more road ahead before global launch, but we're glad you're on it with us.
And please don’t stop sharing your feedback, good or bad, we can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Hoping to hear about what’s working well, but expecting to get feedback about where we can continue to make improvements!
‘Til next time, Lightkeepers ✨
